Draft version: v0.3
Last updated: May 7, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of LudoLog (the "Service").
The Service is operated by:
André Kleinhaus
Germany
Email: support.ludolog@proton.me
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between the operator of LudoLog ("we", "us", "our") and you ("User", "you").
LudoLog is currently operated as a free, non-commercial hobby project. No paid plans, subscriptions, premium features, or advertising-based paid offerings are currently provided.
Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected, including any mandatory rights that may apply to consumer contracts concerning digital products under applicable law.
If LudoLog introduces paid features, subscriptions, advertising, sponsorships, publisher partnerships, or other commercial elements in the future, these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the use of third-party data sources will be reviewed and updated before such features are introduced.
LudoLog is a web-based board game achievement and tracking platform that allows users to:
* build and manage a personal board game library;
* optionally import BoardGameGeek collection data into a LudoLog account;
* suggest, discover, and track achievements for board games;
* vote on and interact with community-created achievements;
* organize games into personal shelves and collections;
* participate in community curation and moderation features where enabled.
By registering an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users, including users in Germany, the European Union, the United States, and other jurisdictions, subject to any mandatory rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
LudoLog is not directed to children under the age of 16. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the Service.
If we become aware that an account was created in violation of this minimum age requirement, we may suspend or delete the account and remove associated data in accordance with applicable law.
To access the full functionality of LudoLog, you must create an account by providing:
* a valid email address;
* a username;
* a password.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account credentials. You must not share your account with others or allow others to access your account.
You must notify us without undue delay if you suspect unauthorized use of your account or a security issue affecting your account.
You may maintain only one active account unless we expressly permit otherwise. Creating multiple accounts to manipulate votes, evade moderation measures, bypass limits, or misrepresent identity is prohibited.
The current version of LudoLog is offered free of charge and may include:
* personal game library management;
* optional import of BoardGameGeek collection data;
* achievement suggestion and tracking;
* community voting on achievements;
* achievement favorites and personal progress tracking;
* game shelf organization;
* showcase and meta progression features;
* community moderation and curation features.
We do not guarantee that any specific feature will remain available permanently. We may modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary, including for technical, legal, security, licensing, or community-quality reasons.
Where a change materially affects registered users, we will provide reasonable notice where possible.
We may introduce paid plans, subscriptions, premium features, advertising, sponsorships, publisher partnerships, or other commercial elements in the future.
Any such paid offering will be presented separately through the Service together with the applicable price, billing interval, key features, contract term, renewal logic, cancellation options, and any mandatory consumer information.
A paid contract will only be concluded after your express confirmation through the applicable order flow. Existing users will not be charged for any paid feature unless they actively choose and confirm the relevant paid plan.
Where mandatory law provides for a statutory right of withdrawal or additional cancellation functionality, we will provide the relevant information and functionality at the time of the paid offering.
Any future commercial use of third-party data, including BoardGameGeek data, will remain subject to applicable third-party licensing requirements and will be reviewed before such commercial features are introduced.
LudoLog uses game-related data made available through the BoardGameGeek XML API ("BGG Data"). Such use is subject to the terms, conditions, and limitations imposed by BoardGameGeek.
LudoLog is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to BoardGameGeek, LLC.
BGG Data and related third-party materials remain the property of their respective rights holders, including BoardGameGeek, game publishers, designers, artists, and other third parties. We do not claim ownership of such content.
To the extent required by BoardGameGeek's API terms, public-facing parts of the Service display appropriate attribution, including a "Powered by BGG" notice or logo linking back to BoardGameGeek.
LudoLog may use BGG Data for game reference information and, where requested by the user, for optional BoardGameGeek-related features such as collection import based on a BoardGameGeek username provided by the user.
Imported collection data becomes part of the user's LudoLog account data. If a user later changes or removes their BoardGameGeek username or stops using the related feature, previously imported collection data may remain stored within LudoLog unless the user separately removes that data or deletes the account.
LudoLog does not modify BGG Data itself. User-generated content, such as achievements, tags, votes, progress information, and community curation, is separate from BGG Data.
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, legality, or continued availability of BGG Data. If access to BGG Data changes, is restricted, or becomes unavailable, certain features of the Service may be limited, modified, or discontinued.
You agree to use LudoLog in a respectful and lawful manner. You must not:
* violate any applicable law or regulation;
* impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation;
* interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its security systems;
* attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service;
* manipulate votes, rankings, moderation processes, or community features;
* use the Service for commercial purposes without our prior written consent;
* use the Service in a way that infringes third-party rights.
You must not post, submit, upload, link to, or otherwise make available content that:
* is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, harassing, hateful, threatening, or discriminatory;
* infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy rights, personality rights, or other third-party rights;
* copies protected rulebook text, card text, scenario text, artwork, icons, game materials, publisher materials, or other protected third-party content without permission;
* contains sexually explicit or pornographic material;
* promotes or facilitates illegal activities;
* contains spam, automated content, or repetitive low-quality submissions;
* contains malware, viruses, or code intended to disrupt or harm the Service or users;
* contains knowingly false statements presented as fact;
* is otherwise incompatible with the community standards of LudoLog.
User-suggested achievements should:
* be genuinely related to the game for which they are proposed;
* be reasonably achievable within the normal context of playing the game, unless clearly marked as a challenge or variant;
* be understandable without copying protected rulebook, card, scenario, or publisher text;
* avoid unnecessary spoilers or clearly indicate spoilers where appropriate;
* avoid offensive, discriminatory, misleading, or inappropriate language;
* not misrepresent themselves as official publisher content unless this is accurate and legally permitted.
You must not use automated scripts, bots, crawlers, scrapers, or similar tools to access, extract, copy, or manipulate the Service without our prior written permission.
This does not apply to ordinary indexing by generally recognized search engines, provided that such indexing respects technical access controls and does not overload or disrupt the Service.
You retain your rights in the content you create and submit to LudoLog ("User Content"), including achievement suggestions, achievement descriptions, comments, tags, votes, lists, shelves, and similar contributions.
By submitting, publishing, or otherwise making User Content available through the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, make available, format, adapt, translate, index, categorize, rank, excerpt, combine, and otherwise use such User Content to the extent necessary for operating, securing, moderating, improving, and providing the Service and its community features.
This includes, in particular, the right to use User Content in:
* game pages;
* achievement lists;
* search results;
* community catalogs;
* curator selections;
* showcase areas;
* recommendation and discovery features;
* moderation queues;
* notifications and emails;
* public previews, snippets, and screenshots;
* backups, logs, and technical infrastructure necessary to operate the Service.
This license does not grant us the right to sell your User Content as a standalone content product to third parties or use it for purposes unrelated to LudoLog.
We may review, moderate, label, reformat, shorten, translate, merge, de-duplicate, or otherwise edit User Content for legal, editorial, technical, accessibility, or community-quality reasons, provided that the substance of the contribution is not misleadingly altered.
Curators and trusted users may help review, organize, improve, classify, and moderate User Content within the permissions assigned to them.
If you submit User Content to public or community areas of the Service, you acknowledge that such content may become part of the community catalog and may continue to be displayed, curated, or maintained by LudoLog even after your account is deleted, in particular where this is necessary to preserve community integrity, voting history, moderation history, references, or user progress records.
In such cases, we may remove your profile attribution and continue to display the contribution in anonymized or de-personalized form, for example under a neutral label such as "Deleted user" or without author attribution.
Private content, such as personal progress data, private shelves, private notes, imported collection data stored only for the user's account, or account-specific settings, remains private unless you choose to publish it or share it through features provided by the Service.
Private content will not be intentionally published by LudoLog without your action or consent, unless disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect the Service, other users, or third-party rights.
You represent and warrant that:
* you have the necessary rights to submit the User Content;
* the User Content does not violate applicable law or third-party rights;
* the User Content complies with these Terms and any applicable community guidelines;
* you will not submit protected third-party texts, images, rules, card texts, scenario texts, artwork, or publisher materials without permission.
LudoLog may assign certain users additional community roles, including trusted user or curator roles.
Trusted users and curators may be allowed to perform moderation or curation tasks, including reviewing achievements, improving metadata, flagging content, handling duplicates, organizing community submissions, or escalating problematic content.
Such roles may be granted, limited, suspended, or removed at our discretion where reasonably necessary for community quality, security, trust, or legal reasons.
Users and third parties may report allegedly unlawful, infringing, inappropriate, or policy-violating content through the reporting tools provided in the Service or via the contact details stated in the legal notice.
Reports should identify the relevant content and explain the basis of the complaint with sufficient detail to allow us to assess the report.
Where appropriate, we may take proportionate measures, including:
* rejecting submitted content;
* editing, labeling, or reformatting content;
* reducing visibility;
* removing content;
* merging duplicates;
* disabling votes or interactions;
* suspending specific features for a user;
* temporarily suspending an account;
* permanently deleting an account in serious or repeated cases.
Where we remove content, restrict visibility, suspend an account, remove a role, or otherwise impose a material restriction based on alleged illegality or a violation of these Terms, we will provide the affected user with a clear and specific notice stating the essential reasons for our decision, unless we are legally prevented from doing so or where notice would create a security or abuse risk.
The notice may include:
* the type of measure taken;
* the content or behavior affected;
* whether the measure was based on a user report, our own review, automated detection, or a legal request;
* the relevant rule or legal concern;
* available review or appeal options.
If you disagree with a moderation decision affecting your content, account, or assigned role, you may request a review by contacting us through the appeal channel provided in the Service or via the contact details in the legal notice.
We will review appeals in a timely, diligent, and non-arbitrary manner. The review may confirm, reverse, or modify the original decision.
We may take proportionate measures against users who repeatedly submit unlawful or policy-violating content.
We may also take proportionate measures against users or third parties who repeatedly submit manifestly unfounded reports, abusive notices, or bad-faith complaints.
LudoLog may rely on third-party services for hosting, authentication, email delivery, error monitoring, analytics, database hosting, rate limiting, or other technical functions.
Further information on the processing of personal data by such services is provided in the Privacy Policy.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, availability, or terms of any third-party sites. Links do not constitute endorsement unless expressly stated.
LudoLog may use open source software components. Where required by applicable open source licenses, relevant license notices, copyright notices, and attribution information will be made available through an Open Source Licenses page or a similar legal notice within the Service.
We provide the Service with reasonable care. However, the Service may be temporarily unavailable, incomplete, or affected by technical issues, maintenance, third-party outages, security incidents, or changes in third-party data sources.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
In the event of slight negligence, we shall be liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations. Essential contractual obligations are obligations whose fulfillment is necessary for the proper performance of the contract and on whose compliance the user may regularly rely.
In such cases, liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of service, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, completeness, or reliability of User Content or third-party data unless we are legally responsible for a specific failure to act.
We are not liable for avoidable data loss where such loss could have been prevented by reasonable backup or export measures on the user's side, unless we are mandatorily liable under applicable law.
You may request deletion of your account at any time through the account settings, where available, or by contacting us.
Once your deletion request is processed, your account access will be disabled without undue delay.
Private account data, login credentials, profile information, imported collection data stored for your account, and non-public user content will be deleted or irreversibly anonymized in our productive systems without undue delay, unless retention is required by law or necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims, abuse prevention, security purposes, or compliance with legal obligations.
If you remove your BoardGameGeek username or stop using an optional BoardGameGeek-related feature without deleting your account, previously imported collection data may remain part of your LudoLog account unless you separately delete that imported data through the Service.
Publicly submitted community contributions, including achievement suggestions, public achievement descriptions, votes, moderation references, and related catalog entries, may remain available after account deletion where and to the extent necessary to preserve the integrity, continuity, and usability of the Service.
In such cases, we may remove personal attribution and retain the contribution in anonymized or de-personalized form.
Votes, favorites, completion states, and similar interaction data may be deleted, anonymized, aggregated, or detached from your account when your account is deleted.
Where public vote counts, ranking signals, or aggregate statistics are preserved, they will no longer be linked to your identifiable account unless retention is legally required.
Backup copies may remain in secure backup systems for a limited period until automatically overwritten in the ordinary backup cycle.
We may suspend or delete your account, restrict access, or remove assigned roles if:
* you violate these Terms or applicable community rules;
* your account is used to harm other users, the Service, or third parties;
* you submit unlawful, infringing, abusive, or repeatedly low-quality content;
* you manipulate votes, rankings, curation, or moderation processes;
* continued access would create legal, security, or abuse risks.
In non-urgent cases, we will aim to notify you before or promptly after taking action and provide an opportunity to request review. In urgent cases, we may act without prior notice.
We may update these Terms where necessary to reflect changes in the law, regulatory requirements, security requirements, technical developments, abuse-prevention needs, licensing requirements, or changes to the Service.
If a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will notify you in advance. Such changes will only become effective for your ongoing use of the Service once you have expressly accepted the updated Terms, for example through a click-through confirmation when you next access the Service.
Non-material changes that do not significantly affect your rights or obligations may be communicated by email, through the Service, or by updating the "Last updated" date.
If you do not agree to a material change, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.
We process personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

We do not guarantee any specific level of service availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, security incidents, provider outages, or other reasons.
Where practical, we will aim to communicate planned maintenance or major interruptions in advance.
If we decide to permanently discontinue LudoLog, we will provide reasonable advance notice to registered users where possible.
Following discontinuation, account data and private user data will be deleted or anonymized in accordance with the Privacy Policy and applicable law. Public community contributions may be retained in anonymized or de-personalized form where reasonably necessary to preserve community records, legal records, or publicly available catalog integrity.
