Account Deletion Policy — LudoLog

Last updated: 2026-05-12

This Account Deletion Policy explains what happens when you delete your LudoLog account, which data is deleted, which data may remain, and why.

This policy complements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict, the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy control.

1. How account deletion works

You can delete your LudoLog account through the account settings in the Service.

Once your deletion request is submitted and processed, access to your account is disabled without undue delay.

Account deletion is intended to remove your private account presence from LudoLog while preserving only those records that must or may remain for legal, technical, security, or community-integrity reasons.

2. What is deleted or anonymized

When your account is deleted, LudoLog will delete or irreversibly anonymize your private account data in its productive systems without undue delay, unless retention is required by law or necessary for legal claims, abuse prevention, or security purposes.

This generally includes:

  • your login credentials;
  • your email address;
  • your profile settings;
  • your private shelves and private notes;
  • your personal game records;
  • your imported BoardGameGeek collection data stored for your account;
  • other non-public account data linked only to your user account.

Where deletion is not immediately possible in every system, the data will be removed or anonymized as soon as reasonably possible in the ordinary course of processing.

3. What may remain after account deletion

Some information may remain on LudoLog after your account is deleted.

This may include:

  • public community contributions you submitted, such as published achievements;
  • related moderation references;
  • edit history entries where necessary for catalog integrity or moderation history;
  • aggregated vote counts, ranking signals, or community statistics;
  • legal, abuse-prevention, or security records where necessary.

Where such data remains, LudoLog will, where appropriate, remove your direct profile attribution and retain the information in anonymized or de-personalized form.

This means, for example, that a contribution may remain in the catalog without continuing to identify you as an active user.

4. Public achievements and community catalog content

If you submitted content to public or community areas of LudoLog, that content may remain available after account deletion where and to the extent necessary to preserve:

  • the integrity of the community catalog;
  • voting and moderation history;
  • references used by other users;
  • showcase structures or progression systems;
  • general continuity and usability of the Service.

Public community contributions are therefore not always removed automatically when an account is deleted.

Where appropriate, they may instead be retained without personal attribution, for example under a neutral label such as "Deleted user" or with no visible author attribution.

5. Votes, favorites, and progression signals

When your account is deleted, data such as votes, favorites, completion states, and similar interaction data may be:

  • deleted;
  • anonymized;
  • aggregated;
  • detached from your deleted account.

If aggregate counts, ranking signals, or general statistics remain in the system, they will no longer be linked to your identifiable account unless retention is legally required.

Personal achievement completion data and personal game records are not kept as public profile content after account deletion.

6. Imported BoardGameGeek data

If you used optional BoardGameGeek-related features, such as collection import, imported collection data becomes part of your LudoLog account data.

If you delete your account, imported collection data stored for your account is deleted or anonymized together with your non-public account data, unless retention is exceptionally required for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons.

If you remove your BoardGameGeek username without deleting your account, previously imported collection data may remain in your LudoLog account unless you separately remove that data through the Service.

7. Reports, moderation records, and support history

Reports, moderation records, abuse-prevention records, and related support or review history may be retained for up to 1 year and then reviewed for deletion, anonymization, or further retention where necessary.

This is done to:

  • document moderation decisions;
  • prevent abuse;
  • handle disputes or appeals;
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
  • protect the integrity and safety of the Service.

Feedback submissions may also be retained for up to 1 year and then reviewed for deletion, anonymization, or further retention where necessary for support, debugging history, abuse prevention, or legal reasons.

8. Backups and residual copies

Deleted data may remain temporarily in secure backup systems until those backups are overwritten in the ordinary backup cycle.

Backup copies are not used to restore your deleted account to active use, except where restoration is technically required for security, disaster recovery, or legal reasons.

9. What account deletion does not do automatically

Deleting your account does not necessarily:

  • remove public community contributions from the catalog;
  • remove anonymized moderation records;
  • eliminate aggregate statistics that no longer identify you;
  • instantly erase all data from every backup or log system.

Account deletion is not the same as a guarantee that every historical reference to a public contribution disappears from the platform.

10. Legal exceptions

LudoLog may retain certain data after account deletion where and to the extent required or permitted by applicable law, including where retention is necessary for:

  • compliance with legal obligations;
  • establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims;
  • security and abuse prevention;
  • documentation of moderation or platform integrity decisions.
